  1. Hi,
    first of all wonder if this is the right topic - but as i'm a newbie i'll opt for this ^^;

    I have a couple of VCD's which are on 2cd's each, but I wish to encode them so that they are on a single cd each.

    Now I use the TMPGEnc to encode, but I wish to calculate the bitrate. For this I use the BFinder (from this site)...but does the resolution of the source effect?

    How can I work out the EXACT bitrates AND resolution for VCDs ?

    cheers

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/calc.htm Try that it will help you. Also drop the audio down from 224 to 160 it will give you more bits to work with.

    Resolution does not effect the calculation, i.e. the filesize.
    btw, everything else than MPEG-1 352x240/288 1150 kbps, Layer-2 44,1kHz 224 kbps is XVCD.

  4. but let's say I've got 2 movies,
    both 60 min long, having the same audio bitrate;
    but one is 800megs while the other is 900megs (for example)

    If I want to encode them for 650mb each shall the bitrate be the same for both?

    cheers

    Yes, the bitrate of the source does not matter, only the running time.
    Let's say you have a 60 minutes movie and want to fit it onto one 74minCD, then use a bitrate of about 1465+224. The filesize will be about 725MB, so it will fit on a CD easily.
