I have some AVI files approx size 750kb each...I wanted to convert them to Mpeg so I can place them all on a DVD. I converted them using DVD2SVCD which it did fine but the format was 480 x 480 which in DVD TMPGenc Author said that is not an acceptable format for DVD. I then took the MPEG file and placed it in TMPGenc and tried to convert it to 352 x 240.. it seemed to work ok but I can still not author it. Does anyone have any suggestions..
Thanks

The size of your avi files is irrelevant, it's the time in minutes that matters most. There are several resolutions that are acceptable for DVD, look in the "What is DVD" for all of them. You can use full DVD but that requires the highest bitrate so you get the least amount of minutes per disk. You did try VCD resolution which is the worst quality but gets the most amount of minutes. I suggest 352X480 (CVD), look in the Tools section for a template. It's a good compromise between quality and file size. I also suggest you look in the guides section under avi to DVD and pick one.Originally Posted by razzcal"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa

ZippyP,
Ok I got a template , they are mcf files where do I load them ...also the files that were converted from avi to Mpeg can they be used as I deleted the original Avi's
I also checked the MPeg files I created the ones that are 480 x 480 and the v.codec name is Mpeg2 (SVCD/DVD) and A.1 Codec name is MPEG1 audio layer 2(ocx)
Thanks

Into the template subdirectory of TMPGEnc.Originally Posted by razzcal
Yes, it's best not to convert them though. Look up VCD to DVD for your mpeg1's and SVCD to DVD for your mpeg2's, in the guides section under format conversion. They can be put to DVD as-is using several approaches. SVCD (480x480) isn't DVD compliant but will play in many DVD players.Originally Posted by razzcal"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
