I'm relatively new at this, but this is how I understand it. You have three choices for audio. (1)Mp2 which is compressed but not compatible with many dvd players. Mine included. I however could get audio by switching the dvd player to pcm instead of bitstream. (2)Pcm which is uncompressed but compatible with everything. You can choose that option in Tmpgenc. It will give you separate audio and video, but Tmpgenc DVD Author will join them for you. The drawback is the audio file is huge.(3)Ac3 is even a smaller file than Mp2 and is very compatible with standalone DVD players. Mine included. Hope this helps. Good luck

I also should tell you it's considered bad form to write in all caps. If you want more knowledgeable people than me to help you, you way wish to reconsider.

Are you NTSC or PAL?
If you are NTSC the audio for the film (not sure about menus, but presumably the same) must be Dolby Digital (AC3), DTS, or LPCM (uncompressed). If the audio is MPEG2 then it is not guaranteed to play on an NTSC machine.
Over here in PAL land most DVD players support NTSC and PAL and (from my experience) any Mix & Match (e.g. NTSC pictures with MPG2 Audio).
That may be your problem,
Good luck,

You can use BeSweet to convert your .wav file to AC3. There are guides here on the forum. Just for info, what DVD player (brand and model) do you have that doesn' play .mp2 audio ? I've been putting peoples VHS tapes of weddings ,etc., for about 2 years, all with .mp2 audio (i live near Pittsburgh so am NTSC AND NUTS, lol) and haven't received 1 complaint about compatibility (with over 400 DVD's distributed).

And does anybody know if a audio file can be played in the menu's in tmpg dvd author 1.5.15.49 ?

I do nearly all of my capturing directly to mpeg2 files, I author and burn with Tmpgenc DVD author. When I make motion menus with sound they all work flawlessly so far in all the players they have been used in. Course there are many palyers they have not been used in yet too!
As yet I never had a problem other than user error
Like if I forgot to click the use sound option I will get a motion menu without sound, or the other day I forgot to change it and authored a full disk with sound motion menus when I did not want sound on them! SO I had to re-author again to get rid of the menu sound.
Double check all your settings, just in case. -
well i did a test dvd on a dvd-r and it worked fine...but when i load the program up tp about 4 gig of video's which is still below my safe line on the volume of the dvd, then open up the dvd writing tool and write the dvd it gets about half way done and locks my computer up big time....the mouse wont even move.....so i tried one in dvd movie factory and it works great except it will only record about 3.5 gig on a dvd, i first loaded it with about 4.1 gig and it says not enough space on media,so i go back and delete a track till it will take and it ends up around 3.4 to 3.6 gig on a dvd blank................anybody have any idea's why both programs are doing this?
thanks.bob -
Do you have 3.9 gig authoring disks??
I dought it, but only thing comes to my mind at the moment.
Maybe download Tmpgenc DVD author and try the built in burner in that program and see what happens?
Could be a problem with the burner, your system, software??
Are you using decent disks?
