Hello, everyone I'm trying to use tmpge author to change my vcd files so I can burn them on a dvd disc and play them like a vcd, so in other words a DVD-VCD. My question is I went by lordsmurfs steps in doing this but when I load my file into tmpge dvd author it says

The video framerate 23.976 fps cannot be used for a standard dvd.

The video framerate 23.976 fps cannot be used for a standard DVD.
You can only use the following framerate for a standard DVD:

    29.97fps (NTSC format only)
    25fps (PAL format only)

This cannot be true, because when I coded the avi file to mpeg-1, I used Tmpgenc and I loaded the ntsc format and it auto puts the fps as 23.976 not 29.97.

The only thing that is 29.97 I think is svcd mpeg-2 and dvd format under ntsc. All pal formats are 25fps I think.

My question is how can I load this 23.976fps file into dvd author so I can change the sound rate to 48hz like lord smurf suggests. I would just recode the vcd but in tmpge its not highlighted to change fps. Any help would be greatly appreciated considering I'm sorta new to this ive done svcd, vcd, divx coding before but never tried to do a vcd on a dvd. Thanks

  2. I don't think that you can load it that way. 23.97fps is NTSC Film and I think that for DVD-VCD the MPEGs must be 29.97fps. Try going back and re-encoding the video with 29.97fps and don't use a wizard. If the FPS option is still greyed out, then try looking for the unlock template and use that to open up all the options.

Just copy the vcd template to vcd-dvd (or whatever), edit the new template file in notepad (or whatever), change the readonly flag for the audio sampling rate, change the rate to 48000, restore readonly, save. Use new template for vcd/48k encoding.

Ok tlegion to change to 48hz, can I do it with a mpeg file, I don't have a template. It's not already burn on a disc just a huge mpeg file. I did recode it using the newer tmepgnc, the older one did the ntsc 23.## the newer one will do a ntsc in 29.## so I got that prob. fixed. But to change the hz on an mpeg how would I do that with notepad?

Well since no one helped me, I was messing around with tmpeg and figured away to change the hz. You take your mpeg de-multiplex it, then take the sound for that and open it with tmpeg as sound only, go to settings, change hz to 48k then click on start and let it do its thing. Then after its done take the seperate video file from de-muliplex and the new coded sound file and multiplex back together. And its done peace.

I actually found a better way messing around some more. Load the template you want to use. Then go back and load the unlock feature, this will let you change the hz to 48 as you convert.
