  1. Need to place "breaks" in MP3's and WAV files to break them up. I have a lot of songs that are 70-80 minutes long and would like to not so much break it up but put a chapter/track # every 5-10 minutes. So that instead of it stopping then 2 seconds of silence then playing again I could just hit next and it'll go to 5 or 10 minutes thru the song and if I let it play from beginning to end and won't stop at those points like a regular CD would. Does that make sense? Anyone know how to do this??? I have Goldwave V 4.26 and can't find the right tool/option to do it.
    Thanx in advance

    Try to search in Help of your CD-burner app. There are options in some programs for the pause between songs and how long. Try modify it to zero. then you can have different tracks of the same song. Hope it helps..

    Hi, I have an app at home that I think will be perfect for the job. I'm still at work, so can't give you details.

    I'll post again once I've got more info...
    There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

    Hi again,

    The main one is called "MP3 Track Maker" by http://www.heathsoft.com. I've had it for some time, so I don't know if the producers are still going. I've got version 1.3, build 1.31. NOTE: This only does .mp3 files though - sorry, thought it did .wav too.

    You may be able to find it on your favourite download site (I believe it's trialware). I use http://www.download.com or http://www.tucows.com.

    Failing that, I have the .exe - it's only 72kb. I believe it's OK to mail it to you, as it's trialware. You can get my email address from my profile, to give me yours.

    The other app I have is called MP3 Trim - same deal as above. I've got the .exe for this - it's freeware.

    Let me know...

  5. AFAIK you can't make chapters in audio but you can split them:

    WAV= www.cdwave.com

    MP3= http://digilander.libero.it/mega27/mp3split/

    Both free and easy to use.

    I forgot to mention that MP3 Trackmaker also (re)combines .mp3 files without any clicks or pops where the join is.

  9. Make sure there are no tiny blips (not 2 second gaps) between the tracks after you have done the procedure.

    You could use Goldwave to place CUE POINTS (Tools section) and then SPLIT the Waves or MP3 into smaller tracks.

    Load into burning software and check the settings for gaps.

  10. that only happens when you don't make breaks on the proper sectors. programs like cool edit pro, sound forge, etc. let you cut on the wrong sectors. cdwave does not allow this, so it never gives any of these blips.

    of course, if you're just going to burn it to CD, no need to make a set of files you'll just delete immediately anyway, make a cue sheet as he said. but cdwave (free) will also let you do this.
