I have read all the posts regarding this, and didn't find anything, so I started a new thread, and call for help. I have been using TMPGenc for ages, making vcds. My old system was an AMD K6 with Win98. It crashed, and I built a new one with an Athlon, gig of Ram, a dvd burner, and more importantly WinXP. When I first got everything together, I couldn't get TMPGEnc to work, and then I messed with the environmental settings, changing priorities and such, and it worked fine. I reinstalled WinXP because of different problems, and now, no matter what I do, TMPGenc doesn't work with the Pinnacle MJPEG codec. Nothing really changed. Does anyone have any ideas?? Should I reinstall the Pinnacle software? I installed a codec pack for divx and such, but that has nothing to do with the Pinnacle codec.

You do not mention if you have another non pinnacle MJPEG codec installed. Try to open your captures with VirtualDub as it has a built in MJPEG codec. If that works get a copy of the picvideo, morgan multimedia or mainconcept mjpeg codec and install it. Tmpegenc should see your captures then.

I do not have another mjpeg codec installed, but I will try that. Regardless, it worked before, so that is what is puzzling me.

Thanks to everyone that replyed. I had some other issues, and I was still in the building stages of the system, so I reformated the drive and started from scratch. Now, TMPGenc works great!!
