I just talked to a buddy of mine that has the Philips DVDRW416 which uses the same CS as the DDW-081. He is seeing the same write quality problems when writing MCC 4X +R media at 8X. The last 1/3 of the disk has bad write quality. I am beginning to think this is a media issue. I do not have any 8X media to see what the write quality would be.

Same CS and writing in 8x? Philips DVDRW416 is an OEM NEC ND-1100A and only a 4x writer.

Even Tom lists the old specs: CDRW write @ 24x, and DVD read @ 16x, instead of the new figures Nu put on their website some time ago: CDRW write @ 10x, and DVD read @ 12x. Tom must have either trusted the claims on the box, or on the many vendors' sites that are still displaying the old stats.Originally Posted by murse
