Hi, y'all. I'm holding an event in a month and want to assemble something that will play in a DVD player, and I have no idea how to go about it.

Basically, I have a reading of my first screenplay in the first week of June with about fifty people coming. It's a spoof of a popular TV show, and I want to create a disc of clips from the show to acquaint people with it who haven't watched the program. I would draw these scenes from either the manufacturer's DVD or downloaded files. What program should I use to edit the files (stop and start whenever I want it to), and how do I burn the DVD so that it plays in a standard player? Step by step instructions would be wonderful if anyone can spare the time.

"Free" would also be a blessing, since I don't know how likely it is I'll ever do something like this again. So I'd like either a shareware program or a 30 day free trial period.

    Thanks anyone, for your assistance.

From a DVD, DVD Shrink would be one option to easily cut out clips. Or you can rip the DVD and use VOB2MPG to get one large MPEG of the DVD. Then try something like AVIDemux to edit or MPEG StreamClip. Or use one of the other freeware editors in 'Tools' to the left. <<<<

For clips, depending on their format, you would need to convert them to DVD complaint MPEG video. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page for the DVD specifications. Any Video Converter Free Version is one option or AVIDemux may be able to do this.

Once you have all your edits made and the MPEGs are in DVD compliant format, try DVDAuthorgui if you need a really basic menu. Or for a more advanced menu and options, try GUI for dvdauthor

Sorry your thread wasn't answered earlier, but we get a lot of traffic at times.

    And welcome to our forums.
