  1. DL'd the latest beta of the Logoaway Filter shown in the Tools section, and it seems like a pretty nifty app. But I haven't found any setting where the end result isn't just as annoying as the original logo - i.e. it's pretty obvious where the logo used to be.

Is the problem that I'm using the default settings, that I'm using a rectangular shape, or that I'm insufficiently annoyed with the original logo to appreciate the tool.

Usage is on captured TV programs to the extent that matters.

    FWIW,

  2. You can try and use the alpha blending function in logoaway rather than a rectangular area.

See the documentation page on the author's site for this, and other tips on the settings etc..

However, you have to remember that all the filter can do is guess at what might have been there underneath the logo by looking at the pixels surrounding it.

You're never going to get perfect results with it - many people complain that it still leaves a smudge where the logo was. There isn't really any way around this, although you can help the filter make a better guess at what was there before by tweaking the settings (this makes the filter slower, as it has to do a lot more number crunching).

No, the problem is that LogoAway can only blur/crop the logo area. For removing a logo, you need to use DeLogo (see this thread).

  4. HillJack - you do say in the other thread you linked to that you may be using an out-of-date version of LogoAway, and it looks like you are/were.

LogoAway can also do the alpha blending/masking you love so much in deLogo.

I'm not really an expert on either of these, as I don't use them - but I think you'll find they're probably both pretty similar.

@EwanG - by all means, try both filters and see which you prefer, but don't expect miracles from either.

The thread that HillJack linked to is a fairly good discussion of what these tools can and cannot do.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

I've used logoaway and delogo both for removing the camcorder date my wife left on. In the end, I just left the date on because it was more annoying to have the smudge there.
