Resolution capturing with pinnacle pctv

hi,l im pretty new to capturing,
but all seems work fine, but i have a prob,
when capturing, using virtual dub i cannot select resolution up to x:288, i mean i can select even 720:288,
but i cannot go up to 288 in the other resolution,
tried overlay/preview stuff, but it doesnt work..
is that a card limitation?
my system is ok for capturing, amd 1400, microstar raid & 2 ibm 40 gig 7200 ata100, geforce 3 & pinnacle pctv rave as capturing card,512 mb ddr.
if someone have a solution, pls help..

the error when selecting more than 288 frame size is: error 418 unsupported video format..
