What software would you recommend for editting mpeg2 video produced by a DVD recorder? Price limit - $3000 US, features - cutting, splicing, titles, fades, zoom, still frame, audio mixing etc.

Womble MPEG2VCR can do most of that. And it natively supports AC3 from the recorder.

Assuming you have DV-out on that DVD-recorder Adobe Premiere Pro or Sonic Foundry Vegas should suit your needs, well under 3000$. (MPEG-2 is not suited to edit)

I use Media Studio Pro - $495.00 for that. But a lot use more expensive/sophisticated programs. I'm sure they'll pop in now that new life's been breathed into your Q. :c)

I find mine easy to work with and - so far - has all the bells and whistles I need.

PS - Although I do understand that mpeg was not designed for editing stages, I find editing a breeze so long as whatever program you use allows you to "zoom in" to single frame for nice, clean, accurate cuts.
