  1. I'm not sure if you guys can help or not, but for my home stereo I have a Technics SA-DX950, an Apex AD500W, and my PS2. I have the PS2 hooked up with and optical cable, and the DVD player with a coax digital cable. I believe all things are DTS qualified (not sure on the PS2) but I can't get DTS. From the PS2 I get a digital signal but not DTS and from the DVD player I don't get anything. Anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks

Are you running a movie that has DTS?
Also is your reciver Dolby Digital and or DTS capable?
Does your dvd movie have the option to select the type of digital signal you want to hear?

For a start the Ps2 won’t output dts as for your dvd player make sure that you have it set up to out put Dolby digital & Dts from your players set up menu the same applies to your ps2 it will have to be set up to output digital sound. A lot of people make the mistake off only setting up for surround pro- logic. Because your using coax & optical make sure your amp is set to output these separate a output setting for coax will be different from optical & what I mean is you will have to probably press a different button on you amp to jump from one to the other. One last thing to get Dts from your Dvd player it will have to be selected from the films menu under sound setting hope this helps.

Actually the PS2 is DTS compatible
It should play DTS movies just fine as long as you set up everything correctly

SSX Tricky and NHL 2002 are even DTS compatible videogames that work with a digital receiver that is DTS capable (check out the label on the game cases)

  5. I'm an idiot, I just assumed every DVD had DTS and I finally found that Pearl Harbor had it and I had to go in and make sure if was on. So the PS2 works with it fine, but I'm still at a loss with the DVD player.

I know what your talking about with the digital input stuff, I had to go in and switch the coax digital in to the DVD digital. And I made the TV optical in use the TV digital connection. So that part is right. So I'm thinking it's something I need to do with the DVD player. I've gone into the preferences and it doesn't have any options for DTS but the dolby digital is set to Stereo. Not sure what else to check. Anymore ideas??

BTW thanks for all the help you guys are a lot of help.

Your Dvd player should be set to Dolby digital not stereo. When it set to stereo it will at best only output pro-logic. Depending on the age of your dvd player & make it might not be able to out put Dts this feature is sometimes dropped on budget players check the front of the player for a Dts logo or your manual hope this helps.
