  1. I am using WINDVD 4 that came bundled with my Optorite DD0203 rewritr drive under XP.

Now the problem I am experiencing is that I have random Blue Screen crashes when I try to play DVD that I recorded.

What set-up should I have the player at - "taek no action", "Prompt me", "Play using "

Can someone let me know what they have their windows st up is for DVD movies?

Also in WinDVD what set-up should this be set as? Autoplay etc

As you can imagine thsi is incredibly frustrating as it is random and I hav tried a number of options but to no avail

Any advice on where to start

    Cheers

Yes Power DVD or the new NVDVD. However, your crashing issue is related to something other than just WIN DVD's application.

  5. Any pointers then on where to start looking.

I know that the DVD writer works as I can format and write to DVD-RW just prior to it causign problems

Would any windows settings be a cause for this?

  6. 8) try bsplayer this has worked well for me. even allows custom brightness settings. I prefer powerdvd to windvd... obviously NVdvd is only good if you have nvidia grafics.

The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  7. I've never had any problems using WIN DVD w/ XP (or ME). We have it installed on all of the PCs around here. There are several work arounds for this.

What some people do is d/load the power DVD demo. Install it. Then uninstall it. The MPEG2 codec is not removed by this process. Then they use one of the several freeware DVD players out there (eg. Maxius(sp) look to the left under tools).

  8. Cheers guys

What I have doen is perform a system restore back to when it seemed quite stable.

I then tried to unistall WINdvd but it wouldn't let me saying that it could not find a file or something - maybe this could have been a cuase of my issue

Anyway I re-installed and so far fingers crossed and everything else it seems to work playing pre-recorded DVD. I am loathe to try ones I have produced myself just in case it starts crashing and for some reason Windows remembers this for future and crasehes thereafter.

    Fickle computers aren't they
