  1. I followed one of the guides and removed the bad frames (deleted the bad frames by marking start and end frames) from my avi file, but now the audio is out of sync with the video. I tried extracting audio as a wav file but Vdub gives some compression error.

I tried converting it to .mpg file using Tmpegenc thinking that it may fix the problem, but it did'nt.

Any ideas how to go about this? I have many other files that have bad frames too and I am afraid using the same method as it may ruin the audio sync on them too.

As I mentioned my problem is audio being out of sync after removing bad frames, I am really happy with Tmpegenc for all my conversion needs.

Is there anyway in dvd2svcd to fix this problem?

You might try Masking the bad frames instead of deleting them

I did try that. Ended up with the same audio sync issue with that method too. Still searching for a viable solution.

The original files have no A/V sync problem, it is only after I remove bad frames that there is a problem with Sync. I play it in WMP and also in AVI preview to test them after editing out bad frames.

  7. basically dvd2svcd automates the process of taking a video file and converting it to vcd, cvd, svcd, and dvd. Most people that say they have a/v sync issues are taken care of by running their file through dvd2svcd and letting it convert the file.

Hell of a lot easier than guessing at what the real issue is.

  8. Does it convert to Xvcd? My dvd player won't play Svcd, but it plays Xvcd's very well, so I mostly convert avi files to .mpg and burn Xvcd's a lot.

So does this mean that dvd2svcd will automatically fix avi's with bad frames and there will be no audio sync problem with the resulting .mpg file?

Also for Xvcd, what format should I choose, Mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 when converting from avi?

  10. I'd run the thing through divfix first.

with xvid, it all depends on your source. Just remember the "cant polish a turd" analogy. To put it another way. You avi file is 352x115 800BR. Why would you go above mpeg 1 at 352x240? If the video is 5000br 460x580, makes sense to ramp her down to CVD, 352x480 quality.

You shouldnt have audio sync issues. I haven't.
