Hi, i'm new here, i've been trying to toy with these things for a while.
I have a movie with subtitles hardcoded in it. IT's in AVI format. The dimension is mostly 640x480 and 640x360(<-this one have orginal black bars on top&Bottom when i play using Windows Media player.) I've tried to encoded with TMPEG and burn it using Ulead DVD MovieFactory. However, when i played it on both of my DVD player, it seem that they've cropped out the botom part of my movie. I've encoded using 1:1 and 4:3 ratio of NTSC and it's still the same. It seems like the vertical is stretched out. and I've only see a lil top of the subtitles. When I tried to meddled with 16x9, I get the 2 bars on top and bottom, but then it seems like the person is getting fatter.
As for as the 640x360 dimesion avi files, it has the bars when i played using PC programs, but when i encoded with TMPEG plus, the didn't encoded the bars along with the movie. I thought that was hardcoded to the file.
Please help me to where I can encoded the files to DVD and still see the pictures as if it's on the monitor and do not loose the top nor the bottom of the file.
Thanks.
Kay

I was manage to get the 640x360 avi files to convert right and play right on the DVD without get making the person fatter nor stretch the vertical and make them loose the subs.
However, as for tha 640x480 avi files, i still can't manage to get it done right. If i keep using full screen + keep aspect ratio when encode to a 4:3 NTSC display. It still putting the 2 vertical bars (left+right) and the subs still be cropped out when i played on DVD. I went to PAL and it seems to work right. Is there anyway I can fix it.
WOuld it work right if i Encoded with NTSC 4:3 display but adjust the pixel resolution using Center Custom on TMPGEnc Plus, like trial and error. Or does anyone in here know how to encode it right????
Thanks again
