I know of several formats and their respective burning tools but have never come across a xxxx.img file....
It is roughly the size of a DVD (~4gig)
Any help out there?????

might be a general image file. Try recordnow max. Not sure it will do it, but it might.

Tompika has shown you two programs that can burn it for sure.
DVD authoring programs are the one that use this extension for the DVD image files they produce (DVD Maestro for example). They use this extension instead of .iso but .img is just a standard ISO image file for a DVD (UDF/ISO hybrid). So if you have any burning program that will burn a DVD image, you can rename the .img extension to iso and burn it that way.
