I have an avi. It's about 700MB. I can't write it on a disc as a DVD. I compiled it to a DVD with Nero Vision but in burning session it says: Not enough space on disc! Yet the DVD file is 4.37G and my blank DVD has 4.49G to be written on it. So says the Nero Vision. Or it says ''Un able to create disk structure. Burn proccess failed, bla bla. Help.

i never use nero to encode

try convertx or dvix2dvd or or one of the other converters, then burn the DVD files ( video_ts folder ) to the disc with imgburn

Nero used to be a good burning program, but its not a very good encoding program

  3. Nero is not a good encoder as may notice the experience of many users who post in this forum. Don't go for all-in-one converters they are also generally lousy at their job as we have all learnt thorugh experience .

1st, encode your AVI file to a DVD compatible MPEG-2 (PAL or NTSC) file using encoders like TMPGEnc (my favorite), Main Concept or HC. You could also try DVDflick.

2nd, once you get the MPEG-2 file author it using TDA or DVD author or any other authoring program and then burn to your DVD. Most DVD authoring programs have the burn engine built into it. Or if you still fancy Nero, you can use it to burn your DVD.

I toughed I posted a replay here... Hmmm, strange.
Anyhew, thanks for both of you. I will try HC and TMPEng in future.
I realized! it was not worth the effort since the avi file in question sucked big time. So I left it alone as an avi file

I liked the convertx in past but the trial ended so love is over
