I downloaded x264 and ffdshow, and already had WMP11. This is what it shows in ffdshow:

And yet when I try to play the .TS file in WMP, it just shows the hourglass and does nothing.

I would really appreciate some help!

I forgot to mention that I already tried VLC. But this is even worse - when I try to load the file, the player resizes itself for a split second, then the screen goes black and does not respond to anything, so I just have to hit the power button and reboot.

Could this be a sign that the .TS file I have is corrupt? Is there an easy way to test this?

Try installing Haali Media Splitter and make sure that MPEG TS/PS support is checked. I had a similar problem with a TS/MPEG2 file a while back and Haali cleared it up.

Thanks, I did try that. It did have an effect, now the file actually loads up in WMP because I get some audio. However it crashes the display driver, blacking out the screen for 30 seconds then coming back with safe mode style graphics.

Did you take into account that the TS file is H264, not MPEG2..?

Cut a bit and post it up here. It might be PAFF interlaced, in which case you can only watch it with CoreAVC.

How do I "cut a bit" and post it?

I read somewhere CoreAVC costs a small fee - I don't know if it's worth it for a single 45 min episode.

I guess I'm stumped on this one so I will ask another Q - I have an IMG file and it displays the image fine but I can't get audio in any player.
