There are hundred ways. What are you aiming for? Which format do you want, AC3, WAV, MP2, MP3?

I just want some short wav files that I can convert and use as sounds on my Counter-Strike server. Like in Joe Dirt when he says WHAAAAAAAT, and silly stuff like that. Thanks for the reply though.....

Rip the dvd with smartripper to HD. Use dvd2avi to create a project file and a .wav file.
Start TMPGEnc and select both files as video and audio source. Then go to the advanced tab and doubleclick on source range. This may be the easiest way to find the correct scene. Select start and end frame and hitOK.
Select File> output to file> WAVE file. If you like to make a .mp3 file, install LAME. Go to option> enviromental setting> external tool, check Layer-3, browse lame.exe.
Then configure the audio output at the audio tab.
Select streamtype "audio only" and Start.
