I'm trying to encode an NTSC 23.976fps VOB to VCD and squeeze to fit on 1 CD. However in both TMPGEnc / TMPGEnc Plus the resulting file is way too big (>1 Gb) even after selecting the lower bitrate (1045).

I have the latest versions of both but neither work. Is there a bug? If so which version should I use, and where can I get it from?

    TIA

  2. Not a bug. Make sure to select Video CD (non-standard) in the System menu under Settings. This enables mpg file to be lower bitrate than standard VCD otherwise file will be padded.

If you are using the Standard VCD template your movie could just be too long. Bitrates lower than the standard just produce crap quality anyway. You'll probably find you'll have to go multi-CD.

You could try one of many VCD Templates...

Ok, tried a previous version (2.56.39.143) AND set the 'Non Standard' setting and it worked, so can't tell if there is a bug. However my PAL template had this setting as default and my NTSC template did not have it as standard so I am veering to the 'user error' theory. Many thanks.
