Sony-dru 500a firmware help

I try to install the new firmware and it says no updatable drive exists and I have gon through the instructions and followed them and still nothing, anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it??

As I recall it, the sony support site has a option to chat with customer support via the internet, Give it a try.

The drive is working I hope?

if it works fine, DO NOT update. You may not have the correct file...

The site to visit is www.sonydru500a.com. You will find all the firmware versions there.

Now, the advice, don't upgrade the f/w if you don't have a problem stands. On the other hand, if you have a correct f/w update program, it should not give you a problem.

Even if the f/w on the drive is newer than the one you are trying to flash on it, it should not give you trouble. I've downgraded f/w a couple of times myself.

Thanks guys thx for the link, and yes I have contected SONY custermer support and they didnt know the first time I talked to them, but the drive works fine, I am going to order up some 4x dvd-r and hope it burns at that speed, because the firmware says it updates the burner to 4x, but i thought thats what it was already??

Just tried the rest of the firmware and it says no updatable drive sitll, odd....
