  1. i have an ati tv wonder card and can capture only up to 352x240 resolution. does anyone know where i can get a driver compatible with my card so that i can capture higher than this? i made a quite a few vcds with no problem with this card but i wanna make svcds from dvd movies.

  2. I have the ATI rage fury pro with VIVO so it's pretty similar.

You won't be able to capture higher resolution without using a codec with some sort of compression (unless you upgrade your computer's cpu and disks) Right now you are probably limited by the hard disk transfer rate not being high enough for raw AVI capture.

I've found that software encoding in realtime will allow a bigger resolution (such as mpg2 capturing using videowave3) but the quality is pretty poor and you need a fast cpu.

Why do you need a capture card for creating svcd's from dvd?

Use one of the DVD ripping programs.

I'm capturing at 720 X 480 ntsc mpeg 2with a tv wonder and the results are great! of course I'm not using the shitty mmc 7.1! powervcr 3 works so much better! the tv wonder is a good card but limited by its bundled software

What are the specs on the system you are using to capture at those sizes at mpeg2? I have the TV wonder myself and just bought the Iomagic PC PVR package (includes PowerVCRII 3.0) and would love to capture RT mpeg2 at those sizes. Are you capturing from the tuner or a svideo source.

    Thanks.

  5. I have Celeron 500 mhz 10 gigs hd with no dvd-rom, 319mb ram. I'm using vdub when capturing from vhs tapes and dvd discs.
    My specs are as follows:

    352x240 mpeg 1
    Divx video compression
    pcm audio compression
    29.97fps
    44100 bps stereo
    192 kbs
    1150 cbr
I have no problem capturing at this specs.
I guess my cpu isn't fast enough.
