    Hi,

I'm a dentist and work with a small camera that is connected to a pinnacle PCTV card with a twain driver that enables me to use my dentist software Trophy to capture frames from the camera. This card has recently stopped working. I bought a new Gigabyte card GT-P8000 to replace it but it doesn't seem to have a twain driver, making it useless.

Anyone has any suggestions of what video card I could use with a twain driver?

  2. These systems are often quite picky and very specific as to what card they either will or will not work with. I would strongly recommend that you either replace the card with an identical one, or contact the manufacturer and/or check their website for a specific recommendation.

The Twain driver is usually related to scanners as oppossed to cameras, and not generally associated with video. As I said, these systems are picky. Very non-standard. They do usually achieve higher resolution than a standard video capture, however.

Thanks! I'll try to get another card of the same model, won't be easy though, since it's kinda old.

zalves, do you pay for support from this Trophy application you use? I'm not sure if it's a total office solution like practiceworks/etc., but if you've got support through the company that makes the software you should be able to call them and they should provide you with a list of compatible hardware.

This list doesn't mean no other cards will work, but will show what they have tested and what is known to work with that software, and in you're business you'd rather go with the tried and true than something that *may* work.

Even if you don't have support you should be able to go to their website and find a list of compatible hardware.

That's a good idea. I'm going to check with the company to see what I can use.

    Thanks
