I've been using FFMpegx for about a week now and I love it!
I've been making Video CDs of my favorite movies and haven't had any problems till now.

I've got a .MOV file that was compressed with Sorenson 3 codec and it looks great when I play the original. Like the rest of the MPG files I've made I thought it was going to look just as good, but when I'm through encoding I notice a slight jerkiness in the video. I thought it was my player but it's evident on the original MPEG as well.

I am encoding with the VCD (NTSC) Preset and have tried different settings under the options tab, but because the original is so big (over 25 minutes) I don't have the time to encode all these different options till I find the one that works for me. I've turned off BiCubic scaling, Altivec ( What is that?) and tried encoding for XVCD and none of those worked.

I have heard the term "dropped frames" and I'm not exactly sure what this is, but when I watch the finished .MPG it does look like it's stuttering as if frames could be missing.

Like I said, all of my other coversions look fantastic. Any suggestions?

  2. Check the framerate and the audio sampling rate of the source movie, and use the same values to encode.

I checked the file and it was encoded at 25fps.
When I re-encoded the MPG at 25fps, it looks great on my computer, but now when I view the file on my video CD, the image is even more choppy than before. So I guess this is a PAL to NTSC problem.

I suppose I can be satisfied with the original file, which looks good except for the slight jerkiness.

But if anybody has any clues, I would really appreciate hearing them.

    Thanks
