  1. I am a newbie, and recently started using Sonic Foundry VideoFactory 2 for editing. It works great, and I just love the finished product. However, when I hit the "Make Movie" button and output it to an AVI file, it plays in a very "choppy" way...very strange. I run on a very beefed up P4 with 1MB RAM, fast hard disk, etc.

Anyone have any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Hi ..Not sure if you have a problem or not.

Before moving to Vegas Video, I used the video factory. Whenever you render an AVI , it will look like that during render, but playback should be fine. Play it back using Windows media player or some such.

How are you playing back that you say it is choppy ?

  3. Yes, when I play it back via Windows Media Player, or the preview mode of Ulead Movie Maker, it looks very choppy.

sounds like a condition of the machine. Remember, you are playing back an AVI (uncompressed) file which is massive. The read rate has to be so much higher than if you had converted to MPEG 2.

Check - Disk fragmetation, resources running, etc. Do not move the mouse as that will cause an avi to halt and start.

Just want to be clear, you dont mean choopy as in interlace lines not lining up do you ? I fthat is the case, it is a whole different issue such as field order or digital artifacts caused by pan and crop.

    Let me know.....
