  1. Here's the deal. Downloaded some divx avi's, the audio is out of sync in that it is ahead of the video.

    What I did: I used Vdub to calculate the the video length down to .000 thousandths of a second. Then I opened the audio with Goldwave to make sure the audio wasn't longer/shorter. The audio length was exactly the same as the video. I messed around with adding silence, TimeWarp, etc. but the audio appeared to get more out of sync as the file played.

    I am at a complete loss as to how this is happening or how to fix it. Is this a sampling problem, i.e. 44 v. 48, or what. Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    For Note: I have recompressed the audio by saving it out as a wav in several different formats, i.e. 44, 48, mono, stereo, etc. to no avail.

    Thanks

    Honestly, I think you're on the right track. Audio getting more out of sync indicates that the sound needs to be shrunk or stretched (Timewarped).

    Here's how I'd approach it;

    Sync up the start of the clip first, add silence or trim some off as required.

    After syncing the beginning, go to near the end and measure how much time warp is required, warp to fit.

    The process means alot of trial and error, you need to decide if it's worth it or not. It sounds like you spent some time on it already, my sympathies, sometimes I decide it's just not worth the trouble.

  3. Thanks Zippy, I think you're right, it may just not be worth the effort. I am still perplexed at how this happened to the source avi file in the first place. Do you think it was something that went wrong in the rip?
