    hi all,

Here is my situation. I am backing up old(er) VHS tapes of sporting events to DVD so they are long (time wise, about 2 and a half hours) and big files(5-9 GB). I Have a Winfast 2000XP Deluxe Vid Cap card and it works just fine. I capture the video in DVD format (MPEG2)...I use TMPEng DVD to Author and Nero to burn...I cannot use virtual Dub to capture b/c it says I cannot support resolutions above like 320x480 (or something like that). So I am stuck using my PVR s/w to capture.

My problem is that when I make the DVD and play it, the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the video. There isn't a separate audio file when I capture, b/c of the PVR...makes one MPEG file. The video is fine (quality wise) and the audio is fine (quality wise). How the heck do I make sure the audio and video are in sync BEFORE I waste anymore DVD-Rs.

I have been searching these forums and tutorials for hours and didn't want to bug you guys with a dumb quastion like this, but I am completely stuck.

    ***Edit***
Moved this to the top...hope I can get some help...

OK...Update...I tried the steps listed in the walkthrough and as I was doing the last step. TMPGEnc locks up after doing 2% of the mulitplexing.
I tried it again and the same exact thing happened....weird.

The thing is I don't think that will solve my problem anyway. After further review, I found the audio IS in sync in the beginning of the DVD and at the end it's off by like 1-2 seconds. If I adjust it ahead in TMPGEnc, then the beginning of the DVD will be out of sync. Sheesh. Can I selectively pick a spot in the middle to add in the silence or does it have to be in the beginning or end?

Is this sync issue an problem with how I am capturing or could it be happening after I clip out the commercials???

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I suggest you go out and spend $10 for a DVD-RW. Then you don't burn coasters.
