  1. Ive ripped a movie onto my hard drive but for some reason it is split into three seperate VOB files. Is there a way I can join them into one file? Also the movie has chapters in it but i want to get rid of these ones and put my own in how could i do this? I have Ulead Movie Factory could i use that or would i need a different program. I am very new to this so it would be much appreciated if someone could help me out,

    Thanks.

  2. VOB files are usually limited to 1GB in size. Therefore, I would guess you have a movie that is between 2 and 3GB in size.

Yes, I believe you can use a tool to join the VOBs into 1. I think Vobedit might join the VOBs????

In order to edit chapters, I think you would have to demux the VOB into the video and audio streams first. Then load up the video, add the audio and author. DVDdecrypter has an option to rip the individual streams instead of VOBs. I think it also has an option to have the output file size be unlimited.

So, if you use a ripper to rip the individual video and audio streams to a file of unlimited size - then load audio and video in Ulead and set your chapters and author.

  4. i'll just add that most dvds are more then 4 gigs.the only way to have a file bigger then 4 Gb is to have it on a NTFS partition.thats one reason it splits it up as default.

  5. to save A LOT of time, use smartripper to rip the vod files, but set the VOB file splitting to max file size and make the max filesixe like 9 gigs. that way u wont need to join them, it will just make one big vob file. if u want to make chapters i think there is a guide on this website. just do a search
