I was a Premeire guy for years, but Vegas 4 has won me over.
Very easy to use, good help files, and the realtime preview is a godsend.
I only wish it could use Premiere & After Effect plugins!!- housepig

avid express is limited in input file types, no real time preview (neither does premiere unless you have hardware rendering), not resolution ind. , limited effects , but real strong in editing features and EDL , pretty good for match back to film .. what vegas lacks (as well as sync flags and 422 control)
otherwise vegas rocks the house .. -
so is my limited budget
personally i only own premiere the others I have worked on briefly for my student movies. I got a question by the way...how do u make sub titles for movies? Is there a plugin for premiere?

u use a product like title factory or such ... i dont know of any plug ins - plus subtitles are seperate bmp 's anyway , not part of the video stream --
DTS has a subtitle projection system for movie theatres that overlays subtitles On the film right at the screen - so you dont need different prints for different countries .. -
While I personally use (and love) Premiere, I think Vegas Video has achieved equal respect in the community. It has *almost* achieved equal support. (There are more third party books written about Adobe products than any other line, even including MS stuff).
If you like and have other Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, AE) and/or are going to buy them (including the upcoming Adobe Encore) Premiere is a truly logical choice. Adobe has made their products consistently among the line and even though other products do have support there is nothing like moving among the Adobe product line.
If you don't own any other Adobe products I would definitely consider Vegas -- particularly if you can afford the AC3 plugin for it."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
