  1. I have a Divx film with with AC3 and subs that I want to convert to SVCD. I have all the codecs and all the tools I need to convert but I have a problem that's been taking up too much of my time.

I separate the Audio and save it as WAV with Virtualdub, then I use Headac3he to convert it to a proper WAV. I load everything into TMPGEnc and start my conversion. My subs are put on by Vosub as it's converting.

Now my problem is when I play back my SVCD on my DVD player, the video slows down and the audio goes out of Sync, but after about 10 seconds, the DVD player pauses and corrects itself. The sound is then back in Sync but then it does it again after a few mintues.

When I play the SVCD film on my computer, I notice that the video stutters slightly, slows down, and the subs go out of sync but the audio carries on the same.

I've tried everything I can think of sorting this but nothing seems to work. I've never had a problem with converting SVCD's before, but genrally, this is the first time i've converted one with subs.

The other thing is, when I convert the same movie as a VCD, playback is perfect. No video or audio problems at all.

Can anyone help me out here? tell me what i'm doing wrong? why am I having trouble with SVCD conversion and not with VCD? I'm desparate for an answer to this.

It sounds like maybe the bitrate you encoded at is more than you DVD player can handle - have you sucessfully encoded other SVCDs with no playback problems?
    You can't fool me, I'm a moron!

Yes without any problems at all. But this is the first one i've tried with Subs. as I said, it doesn't play right on my computer either, so it's got to be something to do with the Divx to SVCD conversion. Something seems to be messing up during the conversion.

  5. I think it may have to do with how the original audio file was frameserved. Originally when I ripped my first DVD to convert it to SVCD in TMPEGEnc, the audio was out of sync. So, I went to this site and followed the DVD - VCD guide word for word and it totally helped that problem...

As for the video jumping, I couldn't say, but it may have to do with how many applications you are running when you are converting/burning..sometimes the computer will race to catch up to something when the system is preoccupied with other applications.

    Hope this helps a bit..
