If you want to burn a bin and cue with nero then go to file/burn image. Tell it to show All Files under file type then point it to your cue. From there you should be able to hit burn.
There are other programs which are better suited for burning bin and cue. CDRwin and fireburner are the most popular ones. You can get a fully functional demo of cdrwin at http://www.goldenhawk.com but it will only read and write at 1X. -
thanx adam, i have burned a 4m video with chapters every 30s just to see if it works and it worked perfect, thank you, but i noticed something: first nero has asked me to have the disc-at-once checked in the box i have always had it unchecked as suggested in these forums it had burned the clip without any problems and it plays perfect with all the chapters but i noticed that it has burned alot of info an the disk for a 4m clip so i burned regular way svcd the same clip and it has burned with alot less info on the disk, my question is if that is correct for burning cue files, because of the chapters it takes more space on the disk how would i know now how much of the movie i can fit on the 80 m cd, usually i would fit about 41m on each cd but now burning it as a cue file with chapters it would take more space, and i also decode in portions 41m and then whats left cause i usually have problems cutting the movie with tmpeg, it gets stuck
I would create the movie with chapters every 4.5 minutes, for 41min movie, thanx for any help. -
By alot of extra info do you mean extra files and folders or do you mean alot of MB's extra worth of stuff? The extra files and folders are necessary in order for the disk to play on the hardware player. The size of the extra stuff shouldn't be much more than 10MB's or so.
the amount of space using chapters takes up is negligable. Its not even close to 1 MB. I don't quite understand what you mean by "burning the regular way." Do you mean that you just loaded the mpeg into nero instead of authoring in vcdimager? (I assume thats what you used for chapters.)If so then this size difference is caused because nero does not add all the necessary info you need when constructing the disk. I dont like nero's svcd functions at all, I dont think they are very compliant. Its fine for burning disk images though like bin and cue.
As far as the amount of your movie you can fit on the disk. Forget about the playtime, thats irrelavent. A regular cdr holds ~740MB's of data and an 80 min cdr holds ~800 MB's.
Factor in about 10MB's for overhead (extra files and folders created during burn process.)
So you need to cut your mpgs at about the 790MB mark to fit it on once 80 min cdr. Use bbmpeg to mux. This is the only truly svcd compliant multiplexor I have ever come across and it will also allow you to cut to the MB, allowing you to completely fill up each cdr.
I would recommend authoring in either vcdimager or I-Author regardless of whether you need chapters or menu's. As I said, I dont trust nero's svcd authoring capabilities at all. -
Sorry Adam for not being so clear, yes i am using vcdimager and what i meant that when you look at the cd bottom you can see how much of the cd has been burned and burnnig the cue had twice as more space burned than doing it when burnig in nero using the converted file in tmpeg and than using the svcd functions in nero it has taken a lot less space on the cd, i checked the files and the original file was 72mb and with the chapters it is now 74mb so not a alot of difference, another question that i have if i convert the whole movie and than cut it in tmpeg to 790mb parts as you said and than i will add the chapters with vcdimager and crate the cue and burn it with nero will that fit on 80 cd??

Well TMPGenc wont let you cut by the mpg so you would arbitrarily have to keep cutting it until your filesize was right, whereas bbmpeg would allow you to do it right first time. You really should not use TMPGenc to cut svcds, it is serious problems with compliance and there is a very good chance it will cause problems during playback on your dvd player. As I said before bbmpeg is the only truly svcd compliant multiplexor/cutter that I have ever come across.
But yes if you cut your file to 790MB, regardless of what program you use, and then author with chapters in vcdimager it should fit on an 80 min cdr.
