  1. OK,

Before I get flamed, I know that ATI doesn't support MMC 7.7+ used with my AIW 128 32MB, but hey, my card is not on the "not for use with these cards" list either. Anyhow....

Every aspect of it works except for, of course, the one I need--MPEG-2 capturing (AVI, MPEG-1, ATI-VCR captures all work like they should). I'm trying to capture my shows off my TiVo (since it's full) onto SVCD. It captures ---and based on the files size-- seems to get the video, but when I go to play it back (with either ATI or WMP), there's no video stream.

I'm kinda new to MPEG and not sure how to tell exactly what's missing from any given file, like which codec (WMP says it couldn't download an appropriate codec) would be neccesary to play the file back.

Anyone know a tool/method that will let me read which codecs were used to encode and/or are necessary to decode any given file?

    Thanks for helpin out

Reinstall your WDM/ControlPanels/Catalyst/etc drivers. The MMC 7.7 may have botched something up.

And yes flame flame flame, not supported, so really not surprised. But I always admire trying to force hardware into cooperation.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  3. thank for the heads up - I'll give it a try after I uninstall the world and put it back together in the proper order.

r u aware of ne tool that can read MM files and tell the encoder/decoder used - would still be useful even if I don't get this particular issue resolved.

  4. With a little help from this forum, GSpot, PowerDVD, and yes, ATI's WDM Capture drivers - I am running MMC 7.7 and capturing on my AIW 128 32MB.

    FYI--Just needed the MPEG codec.

    Thanks, guys.
