  1. I need help. I got a Sony DV camcorder to record some of the home video. I use the firewire to capture video into my computer using the Ulead software with the AVI format. I was able to play the AVI file using window media player. However, when I try to create a (S)VCD disk using Nero 5.5, I lost the sound. The VCD I created can be played but no sound. Would someone help me please? Thanks.

    Need more info...

Did you also try TMPGEnc??? ( http://www.pegasys-inc.com ) Most people on this forum just use nero to BURN!!! Everything else (AVI->MPEG conversion) with other software...
I suggest to use TMPGEnc with the standard (S)VCD template to encode to standard (S)VCD format and after that burn it with nero to test if this works!!!

  3. I haven't tried TMPGEnc yet. I will tonight then. It is strange that Nero can not encode the file correctly from AVI to burn to VCD. Thanks.

Nero isn't actually great in encoding AVI to (S)VCD!!! They just put it in their software to be competitive with other burning software...
I guess they have more knowledge in burning software then Video/Audio encoding...

TMPGEnc IS made FOR Video encoding... So I'll stick with that!

Let me know how you end up... (just post a reply, i'll get a mail then)
