  1. I use MovieStar 5 to capture, and then TMPGenc to demux/remux, AC3machine to convert to AC3 and then TMPGenc authoring to make the vobs and Nero to burn. However, in the end product, the audio is off by a little bit, enough to be highly noticable.

What can i do to correct this? I desparately need help as I have been trying this for so long and cant figure it out!

  3. If it is an AC3 audio file, download AC3 delay corrector and change the delay on the audio file.

  4. In AC3 delay correcter, my AC3 file says this:

    Source file information:

    Sampling rate: 48 kHz
    Nominal bit rate: 224 kbps
    Framelength: 0x0380
    Length: 166617frames (01:28:51,744)
There are 31.25 frames in one second.

If I am using DVD video in MPEG2 what settings should I use for Start-delay and End-delay and what is Try Silence? Is there a way to do it because simply guessing would just be too hard! I really hope someone can help me! Im about to give up on all this VHS->DVD stuff!

  6. Don't get so discouraged. Either you can load the vob into vobedit and choose the option to show audio delay, or take a good guess in milliseconds. It is pretty easy. First of all, is the audio ahead of the video or behind it? I never used try silence. In your case, since you already made a dvd, I would do this. It should tell you how much your audio is off. Use dvd decrypter or smart ripper and rip the movie only and demux the audio and video streams. It will give you a notepad file stating exactly what the audio delay is. When you feed that ac3 stream into ac3 delay corrector, it will automatically set the delay settings for you. Follow the guide on this site for settings in smart ripper. Before you burn it, watch it on ifoedit and observe the audio to make sure it is ok.

  7. In VobEdit on my first 3 (of 6) VOBs it says Video-delay:0 and on one is says Video Delay:0, Audio-Delay ID<80>:0.
On the other 3 I get the error:

VOB file doesnt start with a Nav-pack! Cant calc A/V delay

    What do I do now?
Also, with DVDDecrypter, I have to rip the whole thing just to find out the delay?

  8. By the way I still kept all the files:

    -original capture
    -demuxed files
    -remuxed files
    -VOBs

Maybe this will speed up the process?

  10. Eyeball it. First see if the audio is ahead of the video or vice verse. Then just use the field that says start delay. Set it to something arbitrary like 100ms. See the outcome. It isn't that tough. Don't burn it. Just remux the audio and video and view it.

  11. Will it typically be the same for all videos i make with the same process or do i have to guess the delay for each one?
