  1. I used Ulead VideoStudio 7 to capture the DV (AVI) video via IEEE firewire card. I found the result is worser than I captured the video by a composite plug (analog in). Why?

What is the best way/software to capture DV camcorder video to BEST AVI format?

You don't "capture" from a camera. Bad wording. You transfer the DV AVI file to the computer via the FireWire cable. And "worser" it not a word.

You must be doing something wrong if your DV file looks better from analog-capturing.

I don't use DV much, so somebody else should hopefully be along soon to give more advice.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  3. I recorded from my Sony Digital-8 to my computer for the first time last night. The results were beyond incredible by the time I burned it to disc with Click to DVD (also from Sony). The conversions take awhile. I used DV MotionGate from Sony to capture the video to DV AVI (highest quality) through firewire connection, and imported them through Click to DVD to burn. What I didn't know is that the software can control your camera right on your computer, and extract the AVI's automatically! Everything is timed and each chapter is segmented out automatically (though you probably already knew this, I didn't, lol)

Though this is the only program I've used for DV, I can't make any comparison with any other, though I've had extensive experience amongst other formats, the results from these programs are impressive.

I'd avoid any Ulead products altogether...
