Are there any special CD's to use recording a vcd???I have tried making a VCD-SVCD-PhotoCD and none will play on myt GE 1106P dvd player. Get the message (This disk cannot be played - check disk).Using TDK data cd's. Is this where I get what I pay for??

  2. Without more info regarding how you made these, it will be impossible to define your problem. There are dozens of things that COULD make your disc not work, the most obvious being, is your player even capable of playing them? Detail the steps and settings. Will the discs play on the computer?

  3. This sort of problem is usually due to a media incompatiblity issue. Create an audio CD with the CD-R media you have now to see if that will play on your DVD player. If it doesn't, they you are going to have to experiment with different brands to find one that does. CD-RW often works better in these cases.

Sorry fellas; I have a 1ghz machine with 384 megs of ram. I capture with the ATI all-in-wonder Radeon. Process the movie thru VideoWave 4, then theu TMPGnc 12f. Then I try to record with Nero 5.5.2.8. The DVD player is a GE 1106p that is supposed to play VCD's but it doesn't say CD-R's?? Thanks

VCD compatibility ONLY means that the player will play back professionally mastered VCDs that you can buy from a store. These are pressed CDs (just like ordinary audio CDs or CD-ROMs that you can buy).

Compatibility with CD-R and CD-RW media is a completely separate issue.

Unfortunately, many people don't understand this when they buy their stand-alone players.

Your DVD player won't play CD-R but it will play certain brand of CD-RW. I found that Mr. Write 4X CD-RW works on most DVD player. It is the only one that works in my player.
