I was wondering whether anybody knows how to make the recording of a data on a DVD+R disc recorded on a a Sony 500DRU drive compatible with standalone DVD drives that may not recognise DVD+R discs. I understand that one could change the writing on a DVD+R to DVD-ROM ?? but I am not sure how I should this under Veritas RecordNow DX. Any suggestions ??

I don't have a clue but why don't you just use DVD-R media if the DVD player won't read DVD+R?

See http://www.dvdplusrw.org/resources/bitsettings.html. It tells you how to change the "compatibility bit". Be aware it is only possible for certain dvd burners.

Yes, I tried doing this with the freeware DVDbitsetter but it does not work with my sony drive, at least this is the error message I get.

I saw this somewhere long time ago and I believe that Sony dosn't support changing of bittsetting.
