    I have a 2004 Sony DVD drive. It is able to play commercial movie DVD's (which I assume are dual layer). So, can it read DVD DL discs?

    Yes most can. you might run into one or to that can't read dual layer recordable but most can. A lot of set top dvd players for the tv have problems reading them. They are really meant for data and not video.

    Well the reason I wanted to make sure by posting this is that DVD Info Pro reports that my Sony DVD burner is not capable of reading DL discs, but in fact it can (at least commercial movie DVD's)
