  1. Hi, I recently started using DVDDecrypter & DVD2ONE to backup my dvd's onto one DVD-R.

Harry Potter - Chamber of secrets was my first attempt, and although there is some minor quality loss in the cloud sequence, at the start of the movie the rest is seems A Ok.

My next project was going to be LOTR extended to 1 DVD-R, but I am struggling. Could you explain, as simply as possible, how this can be achieved using the tools at my disposal.

If I need to use other programs I would be greatful of click by click help, as I am new to this and easily confused at the moment.

    Thanks a lot

Hrm... just realized that the extended version of LOTR is over 2 disk, hows this for how to tackle it if you only want the movie itself. Of course its useless if you want to keep everything.

Use DVD decrytper to demux the video and one audio channel off the each disk. They SHOULD fit, if not then reencode them with CCE. Once done. Just rebuild the disk with either DVD Maestro or Ifoedit and burn.

  3. Another option is to rip all the vob files for the main movie into two seperate folders, use vobedit to join the vob files and then use DVD2One or whatever program you have to shrink it down to the right size. However, I have to warn you that the quality probably isn't going to be that great with such a long movie. Check the guide below for an easy to follow way to do this. I've done this several times with flippers and it works great.

  4. Oh, and both Ifoedit and vobedit can be found on doom9's website. They're both free, too!

  5. Thanks, will try.

    I'll post when completed.

BTW I do have maestro, but I have only created a very simple root menu for a vhs capture. Yet to learn what everything does, but I'll get there.

  6. I managed to use get the film onto dvdr using the above tools. I am happy with the result, except for the missing subtitles, when elvish is spoken!

I have tried including several subtitle tracks when compressing in dvd2one, and I have maaged to get big bright green subs, which are just readable.

    Can anyone help me?
