has anyone modified their player for ac3 digital sound? did it work, is it worth doing, or should i suffer with analog?

Here is a site I found that shows how he did his modification. He talked about maybe buying a kit for $75 plus S/H, but i guess he did it without a kit but doean't say how much it cost. I read somewhere else you could do it by yourself with about $10 worth of parts
