I recently upgraded from win98se to win2000, because Musicmatch Jukebox 7.5 was stuttering when playing mp3's. I think I messed up installing too many codecs. I had no problems using tmpgenc to convert avi's to mpgs before, but now tmpgenc doesn't recognize the audio portion. When I open it in virtualdub & get the file info, it says that the sampling rate is 44100khz, 2 channels, 0-bit sample precision & that the compression is unknown. This happens with files I've converted before. The avi's play in Win Media Player, though.
I don't want to go overboard with the codecs again.
Can anybody tell me which codec I need?
Thanks,
Chris

Nope, but GSpot most likely can. If VDub can't determine the codec, AC3 is an educated guess... If so, sav wav, direct stream copy, and convert to wav with headac3he.Can anybody tell me which codec I need?

Thanks, Mats.
Forgot about that one!
However, it shows that it's an MP3 stream & that the codec is installed, but TMPGEnc won't process the audio & doesn't show the audio stream when setting the source range. Any other ideas?
