  1. i have two dvix movies and the same happens. first i have to split it in two to fit on cdr. first half no problem but when i cut it in the middle or wherever else audio sync is way out of whack. i use virtual dub to split file and after splitting it the audio is out of sync. i have tried to save wav seperately and load video and wave file into tmpge but that doesn't sove the problem. im at my wits end can anyone help me solve this. the first half of the movie was fine and played great on my dvd player.

First off, when is it out of sync? In the split AVI file or in the mpeg after conversion? Also, why are you splitting before converting? TMPGEnc has a Source Range function which allows you to select which part of the movie to encode. Perhaps if you use that then maybe you will avoid the sync problem. Also, did you scan the video stream for errors before doing anything else with the files?

  3. okay problem solved. i ran scan video stream for errors (which i did for part one) and that solved the problem.
the only thing i dont understand is that it found no errors and no unreadable sectors but still after doing it i was able to split the file with no audio sync problems. in the future when it does find problems how do i then fix them? do i just split the file the same and virtual dub automatically fixes them?

In order to remove the bad frames, first scan for errors. Vdub will report if there are any bad frames and mask any bad and undecodable frames. If there are bad frames reported, then set the Video and the Audio both to Direct Stream Copy and then Save AVI. This will save out a copy of the file without the masked off frames. This should be done before creating a wav file or any other processing of the video.

If the file has VBR audio you will get a warning when loading the file into Vdub. In this case you must use Vdub-MP3 and edit out the bad frames manually. Here's the guide for that: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142555
