  1. I would like some recommendations on capturing in a format that I do not have to do too much re-encoding to place on a DVD-R. Does anyone have any suggestions on settings for ATI MMC or any other capture programs? I will be capturing from an S-video source coming off a DirecTV satellite system. I guess I am really trying to find a way to balance quality vs. ease of capture burn.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

  2. Download MMC 8(or 8.1 if you have DirectX9)it will make DVD compliant videos. If you are looking for a good video editing program you can capture and burn with I recommend Ulead VideoStudio.

  3. ShadowAce.

Have a look at the link in my sig, capping etc. with the AIW.

There is a sample of video on the main page, the bitrate I use to get 6 hours is a bit low so if the video isn't high enough quality increase the bitrate - this will decrease the amount of time you will get on the disc.

  4. Hi MOVIEGEEK,
You sure of MMC 8.0 not 7.7.0.1. 7.7.0.1 is all I could find on Ati's site.

    MovieGeek:

As far as I know MMC 8.0 is for the 9xxx series of ATI's Radeon cards (not the 7xxx series.)

You mentioned 8.1. I know that is supposed to be for previous version ATI Video cards. By your post it sounds like it is available for download, now. Have you downloaded MMC 8.1, or seen a link to download it? If so please share the link with us. The only reference to MMC 8.1 I can find is in the FAQ Q14 here: http://mirror.ati.com/products/pc/aiw9700pro/faq.html#14 and it states MMC 8.1 will be available in spring.

I've been hanging around rage3d.com too long, all the gossip has caused my brain to warp.
If you have any ATI questions go to this site(you can sometimes talk to an ATI rep.):
