Hi all,
have had this card for the last 4yrs. Last used 3mths ago.
When I try to capture to AVI in Pinnacle Studio 9.3 or VirtualDub, the software locks up and cannot be shut down via Task manager. Only restarting the PC would get me back running.
My symptoms are that the preview screen jumps from black to green and back randomly. Once you press start and set the filename you lose control of the program. I suspect that the capture part of the Video card is on it's last legs. If you have any tests that could confirm this I would be grateful, or any hints to fix it.
thanks
Greg

Hi Lordsmurf,
I have repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled ATI MMC 9.02 but without success.
When I run PC check from the MMC, I get an error
MMCCFG.exe - application error
"The instruction at "0x012b0677" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate.
It also cannot find a DVD decoder so it doesn't add that application.
However Pinnacle still displays flashing black/green in the preview of capture window as before.
thanks

Uninstall everything ATI, and reinstall.

Have had a major crash whilst running Windows repair , consequently have had to do a full windows reinstall, including reinstalling ATI MMC and Catalyst drivers.
However this has not changed the situation, still mixed green/black screen and now that it can capture, it is dropping 300+ frames in 20s video on the AVI best setting, which is what I normally use.

Green is usually a codec error.

Hi Lordsmurf,
was able to capture 10mins of video via Studio 9.3 in AVI, however when I tried again at a lower resolution it broke up and dropped plenty of frames.
same issue with Virtualdub, so downloaded and installed HuffyUV codec, same problem.
If my issue is a codec, how can I change it?
thanks

Remove unneeded codecs. If that fails, re-install Windows and avoiud adding needless codecs -- ESPECIALLY AVOID codec packs (the death of many systems).

Hi Lordsmurf,
I've reinstalled WinXP, however the problems still exists.
sometimes it will capture clean, the next time it locks up.
So I've now installed an old Leadtek TV2000 XP, and have now problems with it. So I'm going to use it to capture and just use the AGP ATI7500 for video out.
thanks for your help, it's a strange one
Greg
