  1. Hi folks,
apologies if this is in the wrong forum, and forgive my ignorance but I've tried searching and haven't really found something quick that will do this. Anyhow, my problem is this: I need to take say 1 hour of VHS at a time, capture it as an MJPEG in Win ME/98 with my Matrox Rainbow Runner (old card, and only has drivers for 95/98/ME but it does it's job well...) and then I need to encode this as a VCD\SVCD quality MPEG as quickly as is possible! Can someone tell me how, or send me to a guide? Please! It's really important, and as I said, it needs to be quick.

    Thanks,
    Your crazy Irish friend,
    PnaG.

  2. There's no information on how to convert MJPEG to MPEG there though!

  3. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't MJPEG stored in an avi wrapper. In which case use TmpGenc. If your file does not have an avi extension its probably worth trying anyway.

Frameserve it out of VDUB into TMPGenc. Personnally I capture in HUFFYUV to avoid this step. As I recall I couldn't get TMPGEnc to open MJPEG, but then I didn't try more than twice.

I have a problem with 'Matrox MJPEG' files and TMPGEn. If I use TMPGEnc versions 2.51 or older they work. Later versions will not display the video.

However, all versions work with 'PicVideo MJPEG' files.

  6. I am using Picvideo and TMPGenc has not problem with it. I usually frameserve it from VDub, but TMPGenc will open it too.
