This is making me regret getting a Mac! All I want is to burn some files onto CD-R. First my iBook tells me these files are too big, though PCs will burn them. I tried using VirtualDub through Virtual PC but both programs are throwing fits at me.
I finally tried overburning with cdrtools 2.0, but right when it begins burning, I get this error message:
-------------
cdrecord: CUE sheet not accepted. Retrying with minimum pregapsize = 1.
cdrecord: Undefined error: 0. send_cue_sheet: scsi sendcmd: no error

cmd finished after 0.240s timeout 200s
cdrecord: Cannot send CUE sheet.
cdrecord: Could not write Lead-in.

Can anyone help me?? I have been going crazy for the past two weeks trying to figure out how to burn these huge files onto CD-R. PCs can do it, why can't my iBook? If this doesn't work, are there other viable options? I have search for a program that will let me edit out credits, but I can't find one for Mac. Please help me before I gouge out my eyes! Sorry for the melodrama![]()

A couple of questions:
1. How big and what type of file are you trying to burn.
2. what programs have you attempted to burn with?
3. do you like your new mac??
Burning on a mac is simple, perhaps even simpler than on a pc. It all depends on what you are burning, how large it is, and what software you are using.
For simple burning, i recommend Toast v 5.2 Perhaps the easiest. Just drag, drop and push burn. Easlily supports up to 700 megs on a cd-r
NOTE: on a mac, unless you choose the option not to, the software automatically adds dekstop storage information, which is needed but adds a good 2-3 megs of file space. Thus making it difficult for things to fit from time to time.
You can overburn with a mac. Look at this nice how to:

Burning should be easy, with more information I can help you so you dont have to gouge out your eyes!!!!!!!
Now, to the point about clipping off the credits. QUICKTIME PRO
lets you select the video you want to keep, thus cutting out the part you do not. Open your movie in quicktime. Use small triangle arrows at location bar to select what you do want! COPY this selected video portion. Make a new movie. Select all of the new movie, PASTE into this section. Save as a self contained movie.
This is perhaps the easiest way. There are other.
Again, it all depends on what you want to do.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your help Galactica!
I am new to all this burning stuff--this is my first computer with a burner.
I am trying to burn .AVI files. I think xvid?? Are they the same thing? Still unclear on what xvid, divx, avi files are. One is 696.9mb, another is 700.3mb. I have others that are A little over 700mb. According to my iBook, I only have 660mb of space available on a 700mb disk, which puzzles me. That's why I tried to overburn.
I tried burning by dragging files onto the CD-R and right-clicking to choose "Burn Disk" but I get messages saying my file is too large. Then I tried CD Session Burner 1.0.2 and it says there is 700mb available on the disk, but when I try to burn the 696.6 file, the program adds about 10mb to the file and I still can't burn.
I tried CDRecord to overburn, but got a long error message (see above). I tried MissingMediaBurner and Terminal popped up and gave me an error.
As for Quicktime Pro, would that work with the avi files? I can't open and view these avi files in regular quicktime. Also, can I resize files with Quicktime Pro? I have a file that is 860mb. I want to keep all the content but make it smaller.
This is a lot. Sorry. I am truly a newbie. Thanks so much!!
ps: My Mac doesn't like me at all. It isn't listening to a thing I say. Uuuuuggggggh.
