I have an anime my friend gave me and the it was 5XX*4XX at 1200 bitrate and the quality didn't look as good as it should have so I ttok a peak in Gspot and this is what I got:
Gspot has found Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2 , which is installed on your system, and is a compatible with this format; based on that, the video should play fine
Direct show is apparantly able to play the file as well, though it have selected a different codec, the[b\ Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompresser, whose primary 4cc (MPG4)[/b] does not match the file's 4cc (MP42). This is because the codc claims to be able to decomprses 8 other formats besides MPG4, and this is format number three on that list.
This is usually not a problem, but under certain circumstances there maybe a preformance issue (qualtiy)
But it looks like i'm one of the those circumstances (sorry for the horrible spelling)
So i figured " well...the quality is there but it isn't showing it, lemme rip out the video and convert it in Vdub"
But the problem is that VDub gives me an error. How to get this file into divx 5.02? Thanks

You can change the fourcc code with this software.
Perhaps this will trick Vdub into opening it?
But watch out, it can be dangerous. Try it on a copy of the file.
