Hi I just download WINDVD and it can play my copied video files off of my cd I burnt.
What I want to know is how do you get your vcd to run automatically when u insert it into your cd-rom drive? I have to open windvd to open the cd.
How would the vcd work on a compatible dvd player with vcd play, when it needs a program to play, is there some way to incorporate the autorun with a program to be able to playback on dvd players?

For your cdrom, just make an autorun file in notepad:
File name: autorun.inf
Contents:
[autorun]
open=(path to windvd)/windvd.exe
This will ONLY work on your comp and will not work if windvd is located at another location. For my comp, the autorun.inf file would contain:
[autorun]
open=C:\Program Files\InterVideo\WinDVD\WinDVD.exe
As long as u have autorun enabled on ur cdrom, it will automatically open windvd.
This is only applicable to a cdrom on a comp with autorun enabled -I have no idea how to make it work with a dvd player -

Is this correct?
I then went to nero and tried dragging the file to the new compilation but it said it was invalid because it was not a MPEG-1 and had no audio/video.
Arent I supposed to put that file on the cd for auto-run? -
Do I place the autorun file with the vcd components folder with: CDI,EXT,MPEGAV,SEGMENT,VCD??
If so do I just place at the bottom of those components or do I place it in one of the folders?? -
Take out one of your CD-ROMs and have a look at where the autorun.inf file normally goes...
You put it in the root directory.

Scratches head at the idiotic question...
This question has been asked dozens of times and has been answered dozens of times.
If you use Nero, you put additional files onto the filesystem by DRAGGING it onto the filesystem panel.
You put the autorun.inf file on the root directory (i.e., not inside any folder). If you've actually bothered SEARCHING the forum first or even taken up my suggestion of LOOKING at a CD-ROM that you own (that autoruns), the answer becomes obvious.

Does the file have to be called autorun.inf or doesnt it matter? I have mine called autorun.txt
-
It MUST be called autorun.inf.
If you call it anything else (or put it in any folder other than the root directory) it WILL NOT work.
