I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Audio Sound Card with IEEE 1394 port. I'm looking into getting a Canopus ADVC-100 and I heard that they don't work with cards that have Texas Instrument chip set. Does anyone know if the Sound Blaster Audigy Audio Sound Card has Texas Instrument chips in it or is there anyway I can tell? I got the sound card when I got my computer from Gateway so I don't have a box for the sound card or anything...

I don't recall the site - but there is at least ONE ADVC-100 review that successfully used the SB Audigy firewire with excellent results
start at the canopus site and look at the reviews

The Audigy does not have a TI chipset. I have captured from a DV cam though it without any problems.

For controlling external hard disks the Audigy firewire port is not as fast as other chipsets.

In addition I have read some posts in this forum that some users have been successfully used TI chipset firewire cards with the ADVC-100.

  4. I have a Canopus ADVC-100 feeding into the firewire port on an Audigy under WinXP Pro and it works perfectly.

Actually, I have one more question. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Video Card and it has the S-video out feature. I've plugged it to my TV and everytime I play any video files, they won't show up on my TV, only my computer monitor. I only use Windows Media Player to play my video files and I got the player to come up on the TV in the small mode but when I put it on full screen the TV goes black and it won't show anything. Should I download a new player?

Its being blacked out for a REASON.. That is, I hd an ATI card and the secondary monitor or TV output had certain limitations. Full screen video was one of them. Now mind you this is only in DUAL HEAD mode
(I'm probably using the wrong terms as several companies now have differing terms to refer to dual monitor setups)
What I needed to do, and accomplished, was to put the ATI card in another mode of its dual head capability..In the MATROX world this is called A CLONE..and the ati has a mode like this also!@
.. In this mode, the secondary display can only shjow an identical screen to the first. That is, you don't move the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER to the "other" screen, you open on the main, and VOILA, the video now shows full screen in the "secondary as well"

I messed around with it and found out that if I put the TV as the primary screen and the monitor and the clone screen I could get the picture to play on the TV. Thanks for your help!
