  1. I had an AIW 8500DV(currently RMA because of sound issues). When I tried capturing to vcd using their supplied programs, the picture quality was kinda bad. I already read and tried the the guides listed in VCDHelp for captureing. The ones that turned out better quality used virtual dub. Virtual Dub only captures to AVI format. I was wondering what is the best program out there to capture directly to VCD. The program DOES NOT have to be freeware. Thanks!

I am recording from my VCR using composite cables.
    My system specs are:
    Athlon Xp1700
    Soltek SL-DRV5(KT333)
    512 DDR333
    ATI AIW 8500DV
    SoundBlaster Live Value
    IBM 80gig GXP120

    Hi
This question has been asked many times if u search the forums.

Basically you WILL NEVER get good quality capturing straight to VCD format.
You need to capture high res high bitrate mpeg 1 or 2 then encode to VCD after.
This will give very good results if done properly.

I recommend PowerVCR2 and PowerDirector Pro as very good mpeg capture programs.

  3. I get good results using Intervideo WinDVR2 using the standard VCD template for capturing tv programs.
